Our Stories: Our Chapters in the Book of Life
An intimate conversation with Shira Lankin Sheps, founder of The Layers Project and the women of Layers, Michal Kaye, Shara Shetrit, Rebecca Spiewak.
There is power in our stories, power in our lived experiences, and endless power in our sharing of them with each other.
Thursday 7/29 @ 12:30-1:30pm EST
Our stories are everything. And they are worth being told.
As we approach the High Holidays and another opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, what our year has held, our personal chapters in our book of life, come hear the powerful and intimate stories of these women and why they’re choosing to share them with us. Plus, we will hear Shira share her personal motivation and vision behind The Layers Project Magazine and her new book, Layers.

Also? This is a SVIVAH room. That means we will hear new voices. Meet new people. See familiar faces. BE TOGETHER. This space is something special. We just want to hear how you're doing. Come pop in. Even if it's just for 20 minutes. We just want to see your face. The conversation is always better when you show up.
RSVP here so we can send you the Zoom link. Come when you can; stay till you can’t. It will be so nice to be together with you.
*As always, SVIVAH welcomes anyone who wants to be included in a circle of Jewish women*. If you want to be here, we want you to be here - and welcome.
SVIVAH is dependent on the generosity of those who choose to invest in a powerful community of women. Cost should never be a barrier to participation in anything SVIVAH, but if you can help us show respect to our speakers/facilitators for their time and expertise, we would be so very grateful. www.svivah.org/donate

"Layers is a collection of over thirty personal narratives featuring the challenges and triumphs of Jewish women. Written in their own voices, each chapter is unique in offering a narrative full of raw emotion and universal experiences. These women teach us how to love through suffering and how to live beyond heartache. They teach us how to be sensitive to those who are different from us and open our minds to realities we never knew.
With topics such as pregnancy loss and infertility, physical and mental health, grief, conversion, disability, antisemitism, terrorism, and more, the narratives depict the diversity of background and commonality of experience that connects us together. Each chapter features numerous full-color images as well as reflection spaces and exercises for guided reading, contemplation, and discussion, creating an experience that is both personal and thought-provoking."
