In Their Merit ~ B’zchutam

Our hearts are broken. For over 500 days, we have prayed and hoped — moving through each day with painful reminders of the enormity of the grief we carry with us. For over 500 days, we have been sending love and prayers and hopes for returns to lives and loved ones that were stolen. After 500 days, our hearts are broken because they are filled with love for people most of us have never known.

Can we take our love-filled, broken hearts and channel that love “b’zchutam” — in their merit — towards repairing some of this awful brokenness? Can we each commit to doing an act of love and care in the merit of Ariel, Kfir, Shiri, and Oded? In merit of those who have fallen? Those still missing? Those needing healing?

For many of us, the news about the Bibas family hit especially hard. Perhaps we can commit to doing one thing to support or protect other mothers and children? Sending a baby gift to a new parent. Reading a story at a local library. Offering to babysit for a neighbor. Calling your mother. Spending some extra quality time with a child in your life. Making a donation in their names to an organization that serves mothers and children. There are so many ways to show our love. And we have so much of it we want to give.

Please share what act of love you are committing to b’zchutam — in their name — below. We can take strength and inspiration from each other. And from knowing that the world will be filled with a bit more love — b’zchutam — in their merit.
