When Mother’s Day is Hard:
Circles of Support
With Dr. Julie Bindeman, Rabbi Miriam Herscher, Naomi Oxman, MSW, and Rabbanit Dalia Davis
עֵת לִבְכּוֹת וְעֵת לִשְׂחוֹק
Et livkhot, v’et liskhot. A time for weeping and time for laughing. (Ecclesiastes 3:4)
For some, Mother’s Day is a joyous time when we as mothers are celebrated or when we have the opportunity to celebrate our mothers.
But, what if we are not yet a mother and desperately want to be? What if our mother is no longer living? What if our relationship with our child(ren) or with our mother is strained?
Sometimes Mother’s Day can feel more like a time to cry than a time to laugh.
But here, we have each other. We can go through these complex times together, in community with others who may be having a similar experience. Join our supportive circles for an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of Mother’s Day with other women* who are going through a similar moment.
These small circles will be facilitated by experts in the field who will hold space, share their wisdom and create a supportive and compassionate environment.
Naomi Oxman, MSW will facilitate a group for daughters whose mothers are no longer living
Dr. Julie Bindeman will facilitate a group for those who find the day difficult for a variety of reasons
Rabbi Miriam Herscher will facilitate a group for women experiencing family estrangement
Rabbanit Dalia Davis will gather us all together before we break off into our more intimate groups
These groups are designed with intention. Please only register if you know you will be able to attend as participation in each group is limited. If your plans change, please let us know so we can let someone else attend in your place. Thank you.
Join us Wednesday 5/8 @ 8:15-9:30pm ET
Please invite someone you think might want to be with us, too.
This gathering is directed by Rabbanit Dalia Davis and made possible in part by support of the Covenant Foundation, and inspired by each one of us.
