Laugh with Liz Glazer

Liz Glazer is a standup comedian, writer, and actor who was previously a tenured law professor, a job she was very funny at. As a legal scholar, Liz's articles appeared in the Georgetown Law Journal, the Northwestern University Law Review, the Columbia Law Review Sidebar, the University of Pennsylvania Law Review Pennumbra, the Harvard Journal of Law & Gender, among others. Liz went to Moriah, then Ramaz, then to the University of Pennsylvania where she obtained a B.A. and M.A. in philosophy, then to the University of Chicago where she received her J.D. and was a member of the Law Review. Now that she's a comedian, these degrees are props. Liz has appeared on OutTV and was the 50th guest on the Jewish Women's Archive's Can We Talk podcast, and has opened for comedians such as Myq Kaplan and Maria Bamford. Liz was a part of the Seattle International Comedy Competition and will be a part of the Boston Comedy Festival as well as HBO's Women in Comedy Festival in 2021, assuming it happens. During quarantine, Liz has been staying busy reading old journal entries, getting COVID tests, and connecting with audiences (yelling into her laptop) on Zoom. Art Salon with Jessica Tamar Deutsch

Jessica Tamar Deutsch is a New York based visual artist. Her work explores the pulse of ancient tradition within contemporary culture. She earned her BFA in illustration from Parsons School of Design, where she began her first published book, The Illustrated Pirkei Avot. Deutsch’s work is the response of following curiosities, and a longing for meaning to hold on to. Deeply inspired by the Jewish Renewal movement, much of her work attempts to respond to the idea of ritual being a different experience for each of our ancestors, how can we welcome newness into our spiritual practices too in order to create a personal relationship with The Divine?

Deutsch has participated in the Art Kibbutz residency program, the LABA fellowship at the 14th st Y, & was included in The Jewish Weeks 36 under 36 in 2018.

Deutsch has experience working with young adults at the Brandies Collegiate Institute, in Simi Valley, California. In the summer of 2016 she instructed a month long studio workshop for twenty participants to tap into their unique visual art expression. She has worked at The New Shul with middle school students, where she taught a visual art Jewish study class in 2014-2016. Deutsch has been invited to communities and conferences globally to share her process and development of The Illustrated Pirkei Avot.

Hilarity with Rebecca Schwab

Originally from Skokie Illinois, Rebecca Schwab grew in private Jewish education from K-12. Every summer, she attended Camp Young Judaea Midwest. Which leads most of her friends to tell her she is the “most Jewish person they know”. Throughout her youth, she grew a deep connection to the Hebrew language learned to speak fluently before studying abroad at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on Jewish Studies, Hebrew Language and Semitic Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies, Rebecca decided to pursue a career in the Jewish world. After moving back to Chicago from Wisconsin, Rebecca found it more challenging to find community than she expected. As Co-Founder and Executive Director of ChiTribe, Rebecca is optimizing millennial and Gen Z connectivity in a changing environment throughout Chicago. ChiTribe is a product of best in class practices for Jewish engagement, online and off. As ChiTribe is a non for profit and still very new, Rebecca also works as a Hebrew teacher and Sunday school teacher, and of course tutors for Bnei Mitzvah! https://chitribe.org/

Kohenet Rachel Kann is the 2020 New England Jewish Poetry Festival’s Featured Poet. She’s a 2019 IJC-AJU WORD Grant / Inquiry Fellow. Her latest book is How to Bless the New Moon from Ben Yehuda Press. She’s featured on Morning Becomes Eclectic and Welcome to Night Vale.
