Tisha B’Av HerTorah

Lamenting Loss in Sexual Harm Through Community, from 10/7 and Beyond

Featuring Dr. Guila Benchimol, Rabbi Yael Splansky, and Tehilah Eisenstadt

This year, reading Megillat Eicha, the Book of Lamentations, feels harder than ever.

This year it doesn’t feel like an ancient retelling of a tragedy. This year, it reads like a summary of recent news.

And it is hard.

These wonderful educators are going to help us walk through the text of Eicha and the rituals of Tisha B’Av in a post October 7th world.

We are going to examine the experience of survivors of harm, the need for lament and purpose of mourning. And how we need each other for our individual healing.

And we will do that -- as always -- together.

Come when you can, stay till you can’t. But, come. We have so much to learn from you.

Join us Wednesday 8/7 @ 8:15-9:45pm ET

Please invite someone you think might want to be with us, too.

This gathering will reference sexual harm. Please care for yourself as needed and hold yourself gently and with compassion.

HerTorah gathers together a diverse community of Jewish women to connect over our shared heritage, explore our collective wisdom, and elevate our communal experience in learning with and from one another.

HerTorah is directed by Rabbanit Aliza Sperling, made possible in part by support of the Aviv Foundation, The Covenant Foundation, SRE Network and inspired by each one of us.
